H.G. Wells Short Story Competition

Based in Folkestone (H.G. Wells’ one-time home) this is an annual short fiction competition, for all ages but particularly promoting young writers.

Lee has twice been short-listed for the Grand Prize (senior competition), and was included in the anthology produced by the competition in 2013 and 2015.

Lee went over to the dark side in 2016 and was an active committee member and on the board of judges until the close of the competition in 2019.

 

Thanet Writers

A group promoting the local writers and poets of Thanet, in South-East England. Thanet Writers provides educational resources to new writers, workshops and critiquing, as well as publishing their work.

Lee has been published several times by the site – see the Published section for details.

Lee was appointed as a board member of Thanet Writers in June 2019.

 

Inspiration Writers Group

Inspiration are a Kentish group of writers that meet weekly to practice and discuss writing techniques and prompts. They also publish anthologies of their collected works. Lee is in their third anthology, Yellow, published November 2018 and hopes to be in the Green anthology scheduled for late 2019. Fingers crossed!

Lee was appointed a committee member and the group’s treasurer in April 2019.

 

Birchington Writers’ Circle AKA Birchington Bards

Started several decades ago in Birchington, now relocated to the Northwood Club in Ramsgate. Focusing mainly on novels but branching out into short stories.  BWC meet twice a month to read and critique each others work.

 

Sinead Stoddart: Animator

What sort of father would Lee be if he didn’t plug his very talented daughter’s website. Sinéad is a stop-motion animator, whose  films have appeared in over 120 film festivals over the world. She has achieved over 100 “Official Selection” Laurels, 8 “Semi Finalist” places, 7 “Finalist Laurels” and won 9 awards to date including “Best Halloween Film” at Bloody Horror International 2018, “Golden Cine Award” at Headline International 2017 and “Regional Filmmakers Award” at Southampton Film Week 2016
